What’s Changed, What Hasn’t, and Why Personalised Care Matters More Than Ever.

Seventeen years ago, I opened the doors to Cairns Naturopathic Clinic with a mission: to help people feel better, get answers to unexplained symptoms, and take control of their health with real, grounded support.

So much has changed since then, in wellness, in the way we live, and in what people are searching for.

But some things haven’t changed at all.

I’m still here. Still walking alongside you. Still helping you make sense of your body in a world full of noise. And now, under a new banner, Kylie Cloney Health Science & Wellness, I’m creating new ways to support you better than ever.

The Wellness World Has Changed, But Not Always for the Better

There’s no shortage of health advice these days. In fact, there’s more of it than ever: Instagram reels, YouTube “experts,” podcasts with supplement stacks, and social media cleanses that promise to fix everything from fatigue to trauma.

And honestly? Sometimes, even I feel overwhelmed by all the conflicting data, wellness claims, and influencer advice out there.  There are moments I scroll through social media and think, How is this even legal?

Are people really buying these products and following these protocols without knowing what they’re doing to their bodies?

I can’t tell you how many times I hear a client say,

“Oh, I just started taking this thing I heard about on a podcast.”
or
“I saw it online and figured I’d give it a go,”
or even
“Well, ChatGPT said …”

And I think to myself, very wide-eyed…you’re gambling with the most precious thing you have: your health.

Because here’s the thing, you are unique.

What someone else takes may not suit your body at all. Without testing, without understanding what’s really going on under the surface, and with no way to track progress or know if something is helping or harming, it's guesswork at best.

And honestly? I get it.  Even I’ve had those moments, a beautifully branded bottle or a shiny new wellness powder catches my eye, Oooo, that looks good!  Then, I snap out of it, slap, slap, Kylie... you know better.

Pretty packaging doesn’t mean it’s right for your pathways, genetics, or phase of life.

And while it’s easy to feel frustrated by the amount of misinformation out there, I’ll also say this: I love that more people are turning their attention to their health.  It’s exciting to see a movement toward prevention, longevity, and thriving, not just surviving.

That’s been my mission for years. So yes, it’s noisy... but it’s also a sign of change. And that part? I welcome it.

What I Still Know to Be True After 17 Years in Practice

I’ve run thousands of functional lab tests. I’ve looked at DNA reports, stool analysis, methylation pathways, cortisol curves, and inflammation markers. I’ve worked with everyone from tired teachers and busy mums to burned-out executives and post-cancer survivors.

Here’s what I’ve come to learn:

  • Your symptoms are real, even if others have dismissed them

  • Quick fixes don’t fix deep-rooted causes

  • Your health story is unique and requires a personalised approach

  • Trust, safety, and long-term relationships matter

  • Health is not just physical. It’s emotional, mental, environmental, and spiritual

And the most important reminder?

We get one body. Just one.
It’s uniquely yours, and it can’t be replaced, well, not yet, anyway.
So let’s treat it with the respect, curiosity, and care it deserves.

The Data Behind the Concern

A double-edged sword; now it’s easy to access health advice, but harder to know who to trust.

Social media is filled with people promoting detox kits, gut cleanses, hormone blends, and supplement stacks. Some are influencers. Some are network marketers. Many have no clinical training, and they’re not asking about your health history, your medications, or your test results. They’re just selling.

Wellbeing has become a booming industry, and not just for health professionals. It’s now a multi-billion-dollar market filled with beautifully packaged products and persuasive messaging. But just because something is popular doesn't mean it's right for your body.

I see it every week: a well-meaning client starts taking something because their friend is selling it, or they saw it on TikTok, or it was part of a podcast supplement stack. It feels harmless, even hopeful.

But here’s the reality:

In 2024, 66% of Australians reported taking daily supplements, double the number from just the year before【1】.
TikTok and Instagram now rank in the top five most influential sources for wellness purchases in adults aged 25 - 45【2】. And supplements purchased online? Over 35% were found to contain banned or undeclared ingredients, and more than half didn’t list everything on the label【3】.

I’ve even reviewed products sold via network marketing in Australia that contain ingredients not legally permitted in therapeutic goods, and dosages that defy biological logic. Often there’s no testing. No follow-up. No clarity. Just a sales pitch dressed up as empowerment.

A Gentle Reminder in a Noisy World

After 17 years of sitting across from real people with real stories, I’ve noticed something: it’s not just symptoms people want answers to. It’s the confusion. The overwhelm. The “I don’t know what to believe anymore.”

I get it. I’ve felt it too.

There’s so much out there. So many opinions. So many products promise better health, fast results, and fewer symptoms.

Here’s what I encourage you to remember when the next wellness trend pops up, before you click ‘buy’ or start something new:

Please Pause.
- Ask questions. Get the right information.
- Make sure it’s right for your body, not just popular online.

Before taking advice or ordering a product, ask yourself:
Is this person qualified and registered to give health advice?
Have they reviewed my blood tests, DNA profile, or case history?
Do they even know my family's health risks?

Because you only get one body, and it’s yours to care for, live in, and learn from. It’s worth taking the time to understand it properly.

A Final Word, Learning, Together

I realise I can’t create longer days or add an eighth day to my week, so I finally have a way to do just that.

The new website isn’t just a rebrand, it’s a platform to educate, empower, and expand the care I can offer outside the consult room.

You’ll start seeing regular blogs covering everything from gut health and perimenopause to testing myths and seasonal wellness strategies. I’ll be sharing eBooks, online courses, and client tools designed to help you learn, apply, and stay informed in a way that’s trustworthy, practitioner-led, and grounded in your individual needs.

If you’ve ever heard me say, “I wish I had more time to explain this,” or “There’s a whole science to that,” this is it.

This is my soapbox.

Follow along. Bookmark the blog. Explore the site.
And if you find something helpful, share it with someone who might need it too.

With warmth and wellness,
Kylie.
